Dr. Carmona leads the Clinical Neuroimage Research Group of the IISGM (Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria Gregorio Marañón) thanks to a Miguel Servet II contract. She co-leads the group CB/07/09/0031 and the Neuroimaging Platform of the CIBERSAM (Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red de Salud Mental). Her laboratory, available at https://neuromaternal.es/, focuses on studying the human parental brain by integrating neuroimaging data, biomarkers, and behavioral variables. Carmona's group has a highly multidisciplinary background, including psychologists, biologists, biotechnologists, pharmacists, physicists, and engineers.

She is the author of more than 50 scientific articles in indexed journals and has led competitive projects funded by the Carlos III Health Institute and the European Commission Horizon 2020. (Read full CV).

My research interest primarily revolves around studying neuroplasticity throughout the lifespan and across gender. To achieve this, I employ an integrative approach that combines various forms of data, including neuroimaging, hormonal profiles, immune system responses, and epigenetic information.
