PROFILE
John Palmer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political and Social Sciences at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. He is a member of the Sociodemography Research Group (DemoSoc) and the Interdisciplinary Research Group on Immigration (GRITIM), and his research explores human mobility, inequality, and health from multiple perspectives, including sociodemography, ecology, and law. Palmer leads the ERC-funded Human-Mosquito Interaction Project and is also a principal investigator in the Big Mosquito Bytes, MosquitoAlertBCN, Abilities and Intergenerational Social Mobility, and Distancia-Covid projects. His training is a combination of ecology, law (both at Cornell University), and demography (Princeton University). (Read full CV).

RESEARCH
INTERESTSPalmer’s interests include human-mobility and activity-spaces, segregation and inequality, and disease ecology. He is currently focused on better understanding human-mosquito biting networks and the socio-ecological context of mosquito-borne disease.
