Evaluation process

Mostrar texto Ocultar texto
  • ELIGIBILITY PHASE

    • The 493 proposals submitted passed the format eligibility phase.

    • In the content eligibility phase, 98 proposals were assessed by the AI process. Of the assessed proposals, 63 were confirmed by the evaluators as not eligible.

    • Thus, 430 proposals passed the eligibility phase and went on to the evaluation phase.

  • REMOTE EVALUATION PHASE

    • The proposals were evaluated by a total of 195 experts, at least three per project.

    • The proposals were assigned through an AI-assisted evaluator and project matching process, taking into consideration the type of project (basic, clinical or translational) and the key words.

    • The final score for each proposal was adjusted based on the strictness of each evaluator and the degree of suitability of the matching.

    • A fourth evaluator evaluated five proposals with a discrepancy of more than 2.5 points and with the possibility of passing to the interview phase. The final score was calculated taking into account the four standardised scores.

  • INTERVIEW PHASE

The top 17 proposals from each thematic area were preselected, according to the ranking established with the remote evaluation scores.

The five selection committees were made up of seven to 10 experts selected for their scientific excellence and area of expertise, seeking a balance between basic, clinical and translational profiles.

The interview phase consists in a presentation of the proposal by the Project Leader (PL), followed by a brief question and answer session and subsequent discussion by the committee. Once all proposals have been presented, the committee will deliberate, conduct a final discussion and assign the definitive ranking.
