RecerCaixa

We promote research to improve the lives of everyone.

  • WHAT WE DO

Science is a factor in progress, competitiveness and well-being. In recent years, Catalonia has increased its scientific output, in terms of both quality and quantity. The challenge is for the public to understand the benefits of scientific research and see it as something necessary and close to them.

To allow science and society to progress together, the ”la Caixa” Foundation, in cooperation with ACUP, the Catalan Association of Public Universities, impulsed the RecerCaixa Programme.

Since the year 2010, when the programme was set up, we have been backing the best projects by groups and researchers working in Catalonia, both at public and private universities and at research centers, and we give particular support to research into social sciences, an area in which this programme has become a benchmark.

Thus, AGAUR, the Agency for Managing University and Research Assistance also have taken part in this initiative by supporting the management of the call for applications and assessment process on the basis of its expertise and professional skills in these fields.

  • WHO IT IS AIMED AT

The call for applications for RecerCaixa research assistance has been part of an annual programme of grants to finance the best research projects by researchers and research groups in Catalonia. Credit is given for projects with transformative aims, taking this to mean that the potential benefits are intended to reach the public and offer solutions to social problems or generate new scientific knowledge.

  • HOW WE HELP

Specifically, the RecerCaixa have pursured three goals:

    • To contribute to the consolidation of research in Catalonia.

    • To back the execution of new projects of scientific excellence and with the potential to transform the country, that offer solutions to social problems or concerns.

    • To involve the public in the process of transforming society towards a scientific country and a knowledge-based society.
