  • DESCRIPTION

Candidiasis is a growing public health problem. Some 80% of women suffer from vaginal candidiasis at some point in their life. This infection can be vaginal, oral or systemic.

Caused by various species of fungi, candidiasis is difficult to diagnose and, in some cases, carries a high mortality rate, particularly when systematic. Moreover, treatments are limited because of its high level of drug resistance.

The project seeks to improve diagnosis of candidiasis and design new therapies through research into patterns of infection and how different species of Candida adapt to drugs.
