  • DESCRIPTION

Melanoma is the most aggressive type of skin cancer. Lesions of little more than a millimetre thick are already capable of spreading throughout the body, and metastasis is the primary cause of death. Though research has led to improvement of the survival rate of these patients, there are currently no molecular markers to predict the prognosis of the disease and prevent the early phases of the dissemination process.

This project seeks to identify new genes responsible for melanoma progression, in order to better understand its ability to metastasize. The investigators will focus on the mechanisms that modulate the immune system.
