DESCRIPTION
At the present time, the region of the Middle East and North Africa is a significant focal point for migration which attracts increasingly more people from other countries. To ensure this migrant population has access to quality healthcare and enable assessment of their health needs we must have access to their health data, which is currently not possible. The migrant population is not only plagued by numerous infectious and non-communicable diseases, but is also usually excluded from the majority of health information systems that monitor and share data between countries and regions.
The project sets out to tackle this problem through implementation of an innovative digital tool that will evaluate access to the migrant population’s health data and optimise its collection, thereby enabling it to be tracked and shared among regions.
This research will transform the way health data is collected and improve the health of the migrant population, the delivery of services and the formulation of health policies throughout the region.
