  • DESCRIPTION

Aortic dissection is a life-threatening condition with an estimated worldwide incidence of 3-6/100.000 patients/year. Current treatments have unacceptable mortality rates (up to 30 %) and mid-term complication rates (up to 60 %) as they are originally designed for aortic aneurysms.

This project aims to change the paradigm of aortic dissection treatment. The team has developed and patented a bioresorbable adhesive patch that mimics the artery’s mechanical properties and promotes its regeneration. The patch is delivered on the diseased vessel using a patented, minimally invasive device that lands the patch on the dissected region. This patch will be the only specific solution to aortic dissection and will significantly reduce the mortality and morbidity associated with this devastating disease. It will also reduce uncertainty during surgery and improve the patient’s life span and quality, while reducing all costs associated with this disease.
