The foundation stone of the CaixaResearch Institute

The foundation stone marks the start of the construction of the CaixaResearch Institute which, under the scientific direction of Dr. Josep Tabernero, aims to become a talent hub by incorporating 500 research professionals within 10 years.

In fact, some positions are already available related to management, research funding, innovation, infrastructure and technology as it's planned that, once fully operational, the centre will be able to hold more than 40 research groups and scientific-technical service units.

The laboratory's flexible set-up has also maximised the use of space, with a capacity for 700 people should it be put to new uses, such as hosting spin-offs from the centre's projects.

Similarly, the first steps have already been taken to set up the CaixaResearch Institute Foundation, which will have a board of trustees made up of seven people appointed by ”la Caixa” Foundation whose role will be to manage and administer the centre.

By 2025, construction of the first module is expected to be complete and the facilities will be fitted out for scientific purposes to accommodate the first research groups.
